Yellow T shirt

My first experience of off road driving was an occasional attempt at a few sections during Devon and Cornwall Land Rover Trials as teenager.

Ten years later I was driving Military 110’s around Airbases and on the Brecon Beacons loaded with equipment and gunners.

Finally I was re-introduced in 2007 when a 4×4 was bought to haul the twin axled caravan.

It was then that I discovered a few green lanes in South Devon and got the bug.

A few trips out and a couple of experience days later  the idea of “Greenlane Tours” was becoming a distinct possibility.

The database of lanes was growing and this website was built to offer days out to those who wished to enjoy a day or weekend out without having to spend time researching routes or driving impassable lanes.

Since then the number of trips we organise has grown steadily as has the range of areas we cover.

The experience gained of the terrains, conditions, seasons and routes enable us to arrange routes to suit all participants and vehicles with the minimum of road miles through tried and tested tracks.

Put all of this together and get the benefit of  years of experience and  knowledge which is passed on as part of your day!

I feel there is nothing better than seeing a set of smiling faces after a day of driving 4×4’s through the sort of terrain they were originally designed to traverse.

Add to this the learning curve and understanding gained of the capability of both the vehicle and the driver I have found that you have one of the most rewarding days or weekends available to the driver of most 4×4 vehicles.

Having the knowledge and experience to pass on is the best part of what I do.

Experience gained from previous roles in customer service, management and training has given me the ability to plan events, provide information in a practical environment as well as theoretical situations. This is all linked together by the training skills gained and  from a highly competitive customer service background.

Comprehensive knowledge of the areas driven through means no time wasted and routes to suit the participants on each event.

Advice is freely given on how to prepare vehicles and which equipment is needed for each individuals needs – “all the gear and no idea” is not something I subscribe too!

To put something back into Greenlaning I am the Area Rep for Devon for GLASS (Greenlane Association) which strives to promote responsible driving and treatment of our green roads.
