Newsletter Winter 2014/2015

What a  Summer and Autumn we had – full of events and  some great participants.

Despite  the growth in the hedgerows the turnout  of vehicle was amazing.

Tours of South Devon were well attended rewarded with fantastic weather enabling clients to put their new vehicles through their paces including a new Jeep Cherokee and a Bowler Defender. Peter christened the Jeep and Ash proved that the Bowler was just as capable off the tarmac as it was on the road!

Along with these we had some regulars along with tried and tested trucks, including Mark in the Desert Rat. All were keen though to experience the routes both new and familiar and to make new acquaintances.

Friendships were forged on these events which found Peter from Exmouth and Paul from Holland teaming up for a European Adventure in the future!

Group/Club  Events included Victus 4×4 Response from the IoW who spent a weekend in our home territory around Plymouth. Routes included The Tavy / Tamar Valley & South Devon, where the Guys and Girls found some stunning views, exciting lanes & great stop off points. They all enjoyed it so much that they came back in November on our Salisbury & The Plains Weekend.

Thanks to Baz for putting the group together .         More about the Salisbury trip later in the letter.

Jersey Off Road Club enjoyed a three day event taking in Exmoor / Somerset, The Tavy Valley, Dartmoor’s finest and South Devon. Everyone contributed to a great weekend of driving and taking in the wonderful scenery.  Devon has an incredible diversity of lanes, scenery and enough to keep any group busy for three days. They even managed to pick up some spare parts!

Thanks to Katy for organising her group.

N E Lincs 4×4 Response travelled down for two days of off road driving on Exmoor. The  team certainly found conditions that made them think and work as a team as well as enjoying the opportunity to try out their recovery equipment & techniques. The weekend enabled Dawn to take some fantastic photographs.  You can find Dawns photographs of this on the facebook page for Venture 4×4 which is run by Andrew Fisher another participant on this weekend. .

Thanks to Tim for arranging the group and for planning next years event!

Victus 4×4 Response returned to the mainland to sample our tour of Salisbury and the Plains. Saturday was so foggy we didn’t dare drive on to the Plain so we toured some of the excellent drove roads in the area. Eventually the fog lifted and we managed a couple of hours later in the day. It was amazing to see the blanket of fog forming at dusk over the landscape. The terrain was very wet and the team found out the capabilities of their vehicles very quickly. Sunday was much clearer and we had a good day on the open plains. Once again everyone worked together and took it in turn to lead the group through the various sections of the day.

Once again thanks to Baz for organising and  we will see you all again in March.

Moving forwards our Festive Holiday dates are  27th/28th December if you would like to see South Devon in the Winter and burn off a few calories. Full details are on the Events page on the Website.

Dates for 2015 are already starting to be booked and we will circulated early in the year.
